This year’s version was actually much harder than the last.  There were a lot of good heads I had to leave off, especially from Northeastern (Jamieson, Griffin, etc.).  Our Huskies and the Terriers from BU continue their strong showing from last season.  Both Lowell and Maine significantly improved in the hair game, while Providence seemingly fell off a cliff.  Overall, the Catholic schools had absolutely terrible flow.  BC and Notre Dame had some of the worst collective hair I’ve ever seen.  This is yet another area where Hockey East will not miss the Irish departure.  Overall I was impressed though.  Let’s keep it up for next year.

PS – If you still haven’t seen it yet, here’s this year’s version of the video that inspired the All Hockey East Hair Team:

PPS – Shoutout to this kid for having incredible 80s movie villain hair

Week 12 Reaction: Merry Christmas To All

Eric Williams

12/19/15: Northeastern 2, Michigan State 1

Twas the night after finals and all through Northeastern

The students were buzzing for a basketball feature

The signs were all hung around campus with care

In preparation that Tom Izzo soon would be there

The students were drinking all day at their pregames

With visions of upsetting number one in their brains

And I in my old husky sweater

Was driving to Matthews to see it better

When out in the barn there arose such a clatter

I sprang from my car to see what was the matter

Away down St. Botolph I flew like a flash

Threw open the big double doors with a smash

The demonic husky with eyes glowing red

Gave the luster of mid-day to that stuff I just said

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear

But a hockey rink, with a full team out here

With a coach whose hair so parted in the mid

I knew in a moment it must be Coach Madigan

More rapid than eagles his players they came

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name

“Now Fennell, now Stevens, now Aston-Reese, and McMurtry

“On Sikura, on Williams, on Gaudette, and Benning

“To the slot, to the dirty areas, along the half wall

“Now get the puck in deep and cycle it, all”

As dry leaves that before the hurricane fly

When they heard the whistle, took to the ice

So out on the surface to play a game, they skate

Against the basketball opponent: Michigan State

And then in a twinkling, I saw the game start

A wonderful sight, that just warms the heart

As I took my seat and was looking around

A cutting McMurtry, Brendan Collier found

He was cutting through the slot from the left to the right

When he put the puck past the goalie, though the window was tight

And the Huskies took that good play to the second

The forecheck was working, a force with which to be reckoned

The team, how they played, the Doghouse, how merry

The Stevens to ZAR pass topped it off like a cherry

The puck had spit out, Spartans down for a shot

And Aston-Reese by the net was apparently forgot

The Huskies took that second period with ease

Skating around Michigan State in circles, like a wreath

They had a few chances on our goalie Ruck

But when trying to score they were out of luck

Sure, they got one back in period three

But it was a skate in the crease that scored for the green

A solid shift after for the white, black, and red

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread

They seemed not bothered, but went straight to their work

As all of Michigan State played like a collective jerk

The final buzzer buzzed, the good guys up in the score

And Jim Madigan fist pumped, as the victor

He hopped off the bench, to his team gave a whistle

And off the ice they all skated after their dismissal

But I heard him exclaim, as he walked out of sight

“Happy Christmas to all, and #badboysforlife”

Inspired by my favorite video series of all time, I decided to name my All Hockey East Hair Team.  There were a lot of tough decisions and had to leave off a few deserving names, but this is the best of the best.  Anyway, feel free to disagree but here you go.

Big time showing from Providence and BU with three players each.  Half of the teams in the conference didn’t have a single representative.  Our Northeastern Huskies are in pretty good shape with two players, but there’s room for improvement.  I’d like to see them take the lead next year; they’re returning a lot of talent.  Big time thank you to everyone above for having great hair.
